S.A.L.T. is a new ministry just birthed by some folks from Restoration Park Church. SALT is committed to meeting the needs of the homeless in the Dayton area. These communities are visited a couple times each week to assist with immediate needs. We give them food, clothing, hand warmers, hygiene supplies, tents, and plastic bins (to protect people and things from rain and water).
How can I help?
- Join a team who prepare lunch bags for our ‘visitors’ to distribute in the community
- Donate items to be handed out by S.A.L.T.
- Pack the meal bags
- Become a front-line worker in the homeless communities after being trained and assessed
- Be a “purchaser” of the supplies we distribute as needed
What happens When I Serve?
Recently a gentleman left his home in another state and joined a homeless community in Dayton. He was despairing from the grief of losing a son. S.A.L.T. volunteers provided him with necessities during the winter months. One week he was no longer there. Later we discovered he had returned to his wife and children. He said, “If someone I don’t know could love me enough to meet my needs, I can do the same for the family I know and love.”
